We created a fresh faced, summer look for Michele for Key Wests music video.

Today I woke up feeling a little tired as I had a night on the tiles with my girls last night, only to get a last minute message from my lovely friend Michele… They had decided to shoot the video for Apple Tree Hill-it’s a duet by Key West with Michele, last minute because it was such a sunshiny day. So I gathered myself, got my kit out and Michele popped over to me. Michele said the brief was ‘fresh, summer faced’ so I decided to go with this look that I have had great feedback on.

I have to say I love doing this girls makeup, she has an amazing face for makeup, everything sits beautifully on her skin even when she thinks she’s having a ‘bad skin day’. She just looks flawless and photographs beautifully.

The first picture below shows most of the products we used. I prepped Michele’s skin with Clarins Beauty Flash Balm, Face and Body in C4 next, then Smashbox Studio Skin in 2.4 (I love to layer in case you haven’t noticed).

I powdered everything with MAC Mineralize skinfinish because we wanted to stick to the brief of fresh summer skin. The skinfinish leaves a natural look on the skin, it can be described as an ‘eggshell’ finish. Most powders really matte down the skin and take the dewy finish off the foundation but this doesn’t. Michele gets shiny down her T-zone sometimes so I used a mix of Prep and Prime translucent powder and Studio Fix powder in C3.5 to give extra coverage and make sure she doesn’t get shiny. I learned that little combo from another Irish makeup artist-Michelle Regazolli-Stone, she says she has an oilier skin type and wears full coverage which is the opposite to me as I’m dry. I love picking up tips and tricks from MUA’s who have that skin type because I can’t experience it for myself.
